What is an introduction?

An introduction should be a short summary of what you will include in your essay, including a brief description of the main topic and the points you will cover. For the C1 exam, you should aim for around 50 words.

Example Introduction

There is no doubt that funding has been much debated recently and choosing only one facility to support is a difficult task. This essay intends to discuss financial possibilities for two facilities; sports centres and public gardens. Although they are both important places, only one can be chosen to receive money.
